Woodland Woman

There is something about my grandpa’s woods that has always felt different to me. The trees, the water, and the quiet create a place where I feel completely connected to nature.
On a rainy, moody day, Shelby and I headed into the woods for a photo session with Dylan from The Common Edit behind the camera. We both had our photos taken, each creating something a little different within the same landscape.
For my photos, we took my paddleboard out onto the water and used it as a platform for me to stand on. I also made the staff myself for the session and altered the dress I found at a thrift store. The rain, dark trees, and still water created exactly the kind of atmosphere I love.
Then Dylan photographed Shelby and her tarot work among the trees and along the water. There was something almost mystical about the whole setting.
It was especially meaningful to have Dylan behind the lens. With Shelby being a photographer, she doesn't often get to be on the other side of the camera.
I love my grandpa’s property and the connection I feel there. This rainy afternoon felt like stepping into another world.
A little woodland. A little magic. A little mystery.
